KMRE family joins us in the studio today! SPARK’s own David “Dave the K” Kessel! Dave, a long time LIVE DJ at SPARK Radio sits down with Jon and B to share his music story.  Dave shares inside information about the L.A. music scene from the 50’s through the 80’s to today.
This is the FULL one hour and 37 minute program!

Born in Hollywood, California, David Kessel is the son of Jazz legend, influential guitarist and producer, Barney Kessel, who can be heard on hundreds of jazz and rock ’n’ roll recording sessions, including The Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations,” and as a member of the powerful Phil Spector “Wall-of-Sound” and Wrecking Crew studio ensembles.
David is considered to be 2nd generation Wrecking Crew, a member of the infamous group of studio musicians documented in the (soon to be released in 2015) Wrecking Crew Documentary. David Kessel’s guitar work, electric and acoustic, can be found on Phil Spector productions and albums by John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Cher, Darlene Love, Dion, Leonard Cohen, The Ramones and Celine Dion. In the late ’70s, Kessel became immersed in the Southern California punk music scene. David and brother Dan produced and arranged the Ramones song, “Slug”Catch Dave’s KMRE programs here:

JAZZIN’ WITH DAVE THE K can be heard LIVE on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm (pt) and Saturdays from 11pm to 1 am (pt). This show covers Jazz from the Roarin’ 20’s to the very early 70’s. It’s about Americas’ own music from Dave’s unique perspective.

THE ROCKIN’ SURFER SHOW can be heard LIVE 4-6 pm (pt) on Friday afternoons, and 10pm -12am (pt) on Friday nights, locally on 102.3 FM, and streaming on kmre.org.
